Caucasus Region

This country in the Caucasus Mountain region has a population of approximately 4 million and is predominantly Eastern Orthodox (80%). For most living in this country their faith is primarily an expression of nationalism and cultural identity, not a living spiritual faith. Much of their religion is built upon the authority of the church and their ancient traditions. Evangelical Christianity only makes up 1.7% of the population. There are 16 unreached people groups within this country. The majority are comprised of Islamic peoples. There has recently been an influx of Iranian people within this country. Currently, 11,000 Iranian people live there. Most of these are seeking asylum and are hungry for spiritual truth. Many of these unreached groups, as well as nationals in general, are unengaged people living in indigenous villages. Pray for the Word of God to be accessible, preached, and that its hearing will be met by a true and living faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
